RATHGAR

Location

Lower Batson

Lower Batson is a small, peaceful hamlet within easy striking distance of the vibrant fishing town of Salcombe, with its fashionable shops, pubs and restaurants.  It lies in the heart of the South Hams, within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Coastal Preservation Area.

Rathgar sits at the head of Batson Creek, being one of the many tidal creeks on the Salcombe/Kingsbridge Estuary, and just 10 minutes’ (flat) walk from Salcombe itself.  There are many footpaths nearby, including over land owned by the National Trust.

Besides the attractions of Salcombe itself, there are countless other things to do in and around Lower Batson including walking, sailing, mountain-biking, or just relaxing on one of the many sandy beaches surrounding Salcombe harbour.  Details of some of the other activities and attractions the area has to offer can be found by clicking here
